Elisheva is a divorced mother of three, originally from Philadelphia and New York. She moved to Los Angeles six years ago to be closer to her kids, two of whom live in LA. Semi-retired, she still works one or two days a week as a nurse--"but I just work because I like extra money." She claims because she never spent more money than she had, "that's how I can enjoy my life at this age."
*Side note - Elisheva says "Baruch Hashem" in the video, which means Blessed be God. Religious Jews feel compelled to say this after anything in which they may sound boastful, for fear of getting the evil eye. It's more superstitious than anything but I suppose some might claim that they just want to show, ala Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, their constant devotion to God. When someone asks a religious Jew how they're doing they might say, "Doing well, Baruch Hashem." Whereas if someone asked a secular Jew of my grandparents generation how they are doing, they're more likely to hear, "You don't want to know... (Pause for effect)... my daughter's a lesbian so I'm not going to see grandkids out of her, and the doctor tells me I have the worst back he's ever seen. He doesn't know how I'm walking. It's amazing I'm standing here talking to you, but since you never call I figured I better drive out to see you. How else would you know I'm not dead?"
Elisheva, age 63.
